Hi! I’m Laura Thomas, the author of This Eternal Moment. I’ve been writing since I could hold a pencil and and have been known to jot down my thoughts and ideas on bills, napkins, receipts, and my hand. I believe the words of Henry Miller who said, “Writing is its own reward.“
About This Blog:
This is my personal blog, which was inspired by a quote from C.S. Lewis’gripping book, “The Screwtape Letters“:
“He (God) therefore, I believe, wants them to attend chiefly to two things, to eternity itself, and to that point of time, which they call the Present. For the Present is the point at which time touches eternity…He would therefore have them continually concerned either with eternity or with the Present–either meditating on their eternal union with, or separation from, Himself, or else obeying the present voice of conscience, bearing the present cross, receiving the present grace, giving thanks for the present pleasure.”
This basically sums up my blog in a nutshell. In it I write about everyday blessings, discoveries, fears, loves, struggles, disappointments, and trials.
Each blog somehow links back to this thought: “Only one life, will soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.” Living each moment for Him doesn’t mean joining a monastery (not that there’s anything wrong with that!); it does mean placing all of our life in His hands and choosing to walk His way.
At this point, I post one blog per week. To make sure that you don’t miss my newest posts, you can subscribe via RSS feed or email.

Personal Biography:
I’m first of all a daughter of God and follower of Christ. He graciously opened my eyes to His love, grace, and power in a life-changing encounter with Him when I was 19 years old and I have never looked back.
Every day my goal is to know Him and to make Him known exactly where He has planted me in this season of my life….which brings me to my family!
I met my husband Joel in the jungles of Ghana, West Africa in 2000. I literally prayed, “God, I will do whatever you ask if you just let me marry this amazing man!”
Well, God answered my prayer and Joel and I were married in August 2003. We’ve traveled to over 20 countries together working for God’s Kingdom and generally getting into lots of trouble, too 🙂
We have three beautiful little girls ages 5, 3, and 1. I’m a homeschooling mom and love having the opportunity to learn with my kids every day.
In my “free time” (ha ha, snort snort) I read and write. A lot. For the small amount of free time that I have. One day it is my desire to lock myself in a cabin in the woods and write one book per week at a feverish rate. Until that day comes, I will settle for about 30 minutes a day.
I am also a certified birthing instructor with the Bradley Method of Natural Childbirth, where I am honored to educate couples in preparing for labor, birth, and parenthood in general. It’s pretty awesome and I get to hold babies a lot, which I love 🙂
I’m honored that you would visit my little corner of the blogosphere and pray that we would be mutually encouraged and inspired by one another.
